He was nominated for several Grammy Awards, winning for Best Opera Recording for Ravel: L’Enfant et les sortilèges;
In 2011, Ozawa received the Japan Art Association’s Praemium Imperiale prize for music;
He was named a Kennedy Center honoree in 2015.
